Sermon Today – “Love, Truth, and the Mind”
Philippians 2:5 (NKJV)
“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus…”
Jeremiah 31:33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
Romans 5:5 (NKJV)
Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
Romans 8:5-6 (NKJV)
For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
This will be the third sermon in a series regarding the mind of Christ. The first sermon was “Thinking Like Jesus”; the second sermon was “Lord, Guard My Mind”; today is “Love, Truth, and the Mind.”
In these three sermons, I have gleaned from a book by Dr. Dennis Kinlaw called , “The Mind of Christ.” The following is a statement from Dr. Kinlaw.
“The Three laws of Christian Discipleship are:
(1) Find out who Jesus is. Learn His adequacy for every human need.
(2) Find out who you are. Realize your inadequacy for serving in God’s Kingdom, no matter how earnestly you try.
(3) Find the Holy Spirit’s power to displace your human weakness with the fullness of Christ.
When we do these three things, we begin to think differently; we have different emotions; our entire outlook is changed.”
