“Trusting God When It’s Not So Easy”
Revelation 12:11 (NKJV) And they overcame him (Satan) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.
As Christians we all have a testimony of how we came to know Jesus Christ. A Christian testimony can come in all shapes and sizes. Then as we walk with God we have daily, weekly, yearly and ultimately a life time of testimonies of trusting God. Sometimes the testimony is easy and beautiful. Sometimes the testimony (if we are honest) is downright messy and convoluted. A testimony with struggles --- more often than not --- gives the hearer a deeper level of strength and gives the Lamb of God higher and deeper praise.
Jeremiah 1:4-10 (NKJV)
4 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” 6 Then said I: “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.” 7 But the Lord said to me: “Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ For you shall go to all to whom I send you, And whatever I command you, you shall speak. 8 Do not be afraid of their faces, For I am with you to deliver you,” says the Lord. 9 Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me: “Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.10 See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, To root out and to pull down, To destroy and to throw down,
To build and to plant.”
Quotes from Elizabeth Elliot (Two Books she wrote - “Through Gates Of Splendor” and “Trusting God In A Twisted World”)
“The will of God is never exactly what you expect it to be. It may seem to be much worse, but in the end it’s going to be a lot better and a lot bigger.”
“Faith does not eliminate questions. But faith knows where to take them.
“In my own life, I think I can honestly say that out of the deepest pain has come the strongest conviction of the presence of God and the love of God.”
